School meets craft at SITZ.GELEGEN.HEIT

At the Maistersommer opening on June 17, 2016, young people met handicrafts for the first time, because only young people can carry the handicraft into the future.

Meistersommer is the annual summer special exhibition at HAND.WERK.HAUS, to which craftsmen and women from all over Austria are invited to present their work and their products for a period of 10 weeks.

The opening took place in cooperation with the Polytechnic School Bad Goisern, the HTBLA Hallstatt and the school day care Bad Goisern.

The wood and metal groups of the PTS Bad Goisern were vigorously grinding, sawing, turning, developing, tinkering and handicrafts throughout the summer semester in order to face the master’s summer theme SITZ.GELEGEN.HEIT. "Upcycling" and the recycling of unusual materials were in the foreground. Pallet armchairs, ruler chairs, book stools, snowboard benches and much more were created. The students of the service group made seat covers out of dirndl fabrics and patchwork carpets that were no longer needed, and the students of the trading group informed visitors about the handicrafts of the various master summer exhibitors.

The HTBLA Hallstatt paid tribute to the topic SITZ.GELEGEN.HEIT with its Hallstatt stool, which each HBTLA student makes individually.

The school day care in Bad Goisern, under the direction of the master florist Irmgard Pamminger, furnished the "old" wooden armchairs of the Bad Goisern elementary school.
