needle fabric gold

Members of the Hand.Werk.Haus and Ebensee Fashion School meet designer & photographer Hector Ariel Olguin, goldsmith artist Andrea Delogu and embroiderer Renata Samojedna.

SCALE [Salzkammergut Craft Art Lab] is the joint cultural capital project of Hand.Werk.Haus and Othello. An important component of SCALA is stays lasting several weeks by artists who meet local craftsmen, schools and interested parties. From 24.2. until 1.3. was the focus needle fabric gold of Chilean-French designer and photographer Hector Ariel Olguin in Bad Goisern. He met the Altaussee resident Sardinian goldsmith artist Andrea Delogu, which works based on wafer-thin, hand-made gold threads and techniques that are thousands of years old.

Both supported 4th grade students Ebensee Fashion School when creating embroidery designs. The students apply these designs to garments of their choice and production. High-quality linen fabrics for this were provided by the weaving Seidra textile works provided from Carinthia. In preparation there was also an embroidery workshop with the Polish-Austrian team Art embroiderer Renata Samoyedna took place, which has been networked with the Hand.Werk.Haus since 2020.

Another focus of this project week was an extremely colorful and dynamic photo shoot, deliberately outside of a professional studio setting. The focus was on clothing items from members of the Hand.Werk.Haus association: hats from Bittner hats in Bad Ischl, traditional costume from Tailor Hazelnut in Altaussee, shirts from Shirt maker Valentin in Schärding, Lederhosen from Lederhosen maker Daxner in Ebensee and shoes Shoemaker Bernadette Baldauf (Kleinarl), Philip Black (Bad Goisern) and Zaisenberger shoe store (Bad Aussee).

Presented by the fashion students. Directed by and photographed by © HÉCTOR ARIEL OLGUIN in front of a background designed by him.

At the end of this project week, the protagonists met in the open space in the Hand.Werk.Haus to look back on a week full of exchange of manual work, techniques and perspectives.

The results of this meeting of art, crafts and school will be on display in the special exhibition PerlMUT from May 25th in the Hand.Werk.Haus. You can find further information at: Events
