SCALA – the Capital of Culture project by OTELO, OTELO eGen & Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut

European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024

A joint team from Otelo Goisern, Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut and Otelo eGen has been developing an exchange program with international, national and regional artists and craftsmen since 2021 in close coordination with the market town of Bad Goisern and the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 .
This joint project is called SCALA, an abbreviation for "Salzkammergut Craft Art Lab".

Salzkammergut 2024 enables us to invite craftsmen and artists from a wide variety of countries and cultures to Goisern and to bring them into contact with local experts, schools and the population. Building on these "residencies", the manual experts are often on site for two to three weeks, there will be workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions, themed events and other formats that take place in different locations in and around the market town of Bad Goisern

We explore and break new ground between art and craft, between regional and international, around the defined material focus wood, textile & leather, metal & jewellery, glass, book/printing/paper.

The SCALA Capital of Culture activities in Goisern will already start in spring 2023.
